We all know how much of a struggle it can be when your toddler just wants to do dress themselves. This can be a long process, and very frustrating when you are in a hurry. However, promoting independence with dressing skills is so important for building a child’s self-esteem, for able to function independently at school, and for potty training and not to forget preserving your sanity when you just have to get out the door.
You can encourage your child to develop these skills through play and at different less stressful times during the day. Here are a few ideas:
- Keep a bin of dress up clothes easily accessible. Children’s costumes such as princess, fire man, etc. can be purchased at a reduced cost after Halloween. Check out places like Value Village and thrift stores for these deals.
