Play Dates For Baby
Planning play dates for your baby with other babies his or her age are great for all. When your baby is under 6 months it is more beneficial to you than to your baby. After being cooped up it is good for you to get out and see people with children of the same age. You can swap stories, talk about development, doctors and your lack of sleep. When your baby is about 6 months old and older they are aware of others around them. They like to watch other children and crawl around or over each other. Play at this age is often side by side as they begin to learn how to communicate. Sharing is new to them and they often want what the other has. Playing on the floor with them while visiting is a great way to start building all the important skills. When you do this you are modelling for your child. Remember 0 to 6 years of age are the most important years in child development. Play dates around the one year mark are wonderful for showing your child that meeting new people isn’t scary and that they can see that mom will stay. Separation anxiety can be a big factor at this age and being around other people doesn’t mean that mom and dad are gone. Play dates can build lifelong friendships for parents and children.
